NO! (Models)
ATI views 100,000 prospective models each year. Usually, we find about 2 or 3 who qualify for the next step.
NO! (Actors)
ATI Knows how competitive this industry is. ATI only accepts prospects who are very talented and very motivated, Our thoughts are that if you don't have it, then go find something you can succeed at.
NO! (Singers)
The public only listens to really good ones. We take on two singers a year. Call today for an audition.
What do you look for in models? Three things:
1) How you photograph. You are either photogenic or you are not. Modeling is not a fair business. Really photogenic people get everything they audition for. The rest get virtually nothing.
2) Is there a market for you if you are photogenic?
3) Your height. There is no market for short models. Females must be 5'9" to 6' and males 6' and up. There have been a handful of exceptions to this rule over the past 40 years. (note: pre-teens and children have no height requirement)
What about modeling schools and photographers? Franchise schools need lots of students to generate income to pay the franchisers Because of this they are not very selective. They select everyone. Then they put you in undesirables who just want to look like models.
To make money they refuse to tell you the truth about how selective the industry is and about the height requirement. (most women under 5'9" cannot model and men under 6' cannot model) So you end up taking a class that leads to nowhere
To further continue the ruination of your career most have inadequate, unprofessional and unqualified teachers.
Two big chains hire high school kids to teach who's only qualification is they finished the course before you.
Their modeling school teachers have never been paid to do a fashion show, to do print work or to do a TV commercial. What cay you learn from them?
If your modeling teacher is a 5'2" "plus" size model that is still in high school, what value can you put on the experience? What agent would put any weight on this kind of training?
Disclaimer: If your child is looking for poise, grace and self confidence. We have an exceptional pageant that cost around $500 that is a thousand times better than a modeling school. See quick contacts below to obtain dates and a brochure.
PhotographersThree things:
1) Unless they regularly shoot covers for Teen, Vogue, Glamour, Mademoiselle or another major magazine, they are a dime a dozen.
2) They have a major conflict of interest if you do not buy pictures.. they do no eat.
3) Most photographers and their assistants are incredible sales people. They can set up ridiculous portfolio and photo packages that cost up to $10,000.00
How do i succeed in film, TV, and commercials? 1)You need to develop an on-camera skill, talent.
2) Need proof that you can perform
3) Need a showcase to be seen by top agents and managers.
Prepare the actor to act with the best instructors.
Produce a 2 minute infomercial (train, practice, critique, fine tune, shoot and edit).
Market you to top agents and managers
1) Usually a MFA in theatre from a reputable university (masters degree)
2) Experience in television show, commercials and movies. Most of our teachers qualify as TV and movie stars.
3) Union membership in SAG, EQUITY, AFTRA
4) Prior teaching experience
5) Pass a moral and criminal background check
6) The desire to inspire new actors
7) We are hiring, if you have these kind of credentials please call ore email a resume to ATI We have the best student body facilities, support, and connections in the business.
Is ATI going to be my agent? NO! ATI can help you develop to a point where a quality agent will sign you. Then they will hold a showcase for top agents to see you. It would be a conflict of interest to be your agent. ATI brings in union sanctioned agents (SAG, AFTRA, WTA) to view our clients. ATI brings the agents that have actors in the movies and television shows that you can watch.
1) ATI gets accounting fee for models ATI discovers from the agencies not the model
2) ATI charges actors a fee to get them ready and attend showcases
3) ATI charges a production fee for singers that will acquire the license, rights to songs, hire background singers, and all musical accompaniment and put you songs online for sale. All earnings form download sales going directly to the artist.
Why can't I do this myself? That makes about as much sense as reading a book to be a doctor. You are going to need a higher level of professional expertise to advance in this field. You need an educated expert who has done this themselves. You will save years of frustration as a result.
2) Virtually, every legitimate Hollywood agency will not accept walk-ins. According to "On Call" a division of "Back Stage Newspaper" %75 of the union agents have a "DON'T PHONE, DON'T FAX AND DON'T VISIT" rule. They do attend showcases. You can meet them though ATI.
